All DDYSA members are encouraged to attend the DDYSA Annual meeting, Wednesday, October 12, from 7:00 - 8:30 PM at Jan Dempsey Arts Center, Room 109. encourage all DDYSA members to attend. The Jan Dempsey Arts Center is 222 E. Drake Avenue; it is located behind Frank Brown Rec Center (Opelika Road--across from the post office). A map is provided.

Hot Times Classic 2005 Pool Schedule
In their first game of the season, the 14 and Under Dirt Devils
team won the Spring Invitational tournament held in Auburn on May 20-22. The
Dirt Devils won each of the four games. In the first game, they scored 5 runs.
Marquita Johnson pitched a complete game allowing only one unearned run while
striking out 10. Brook Head, Baylee Stephens, and Peyton Pugh were strong at the
plate. In the second game against the Crazy Peaches, Jessica Washington pitched
a complete game shutout, with two strikeouts, no walks, and one hit batsman.
Fundamental pitch and catch were very strong at every position. The Dirt Devils
scored 10 runs with Peyton Pugh, Shanna Henderson, Baylee Stephens, Janelle
Green, Brook Head, Marquita Johnson, Jessica Washington and Shealy White
contributing at the plate. In the third game, the Dirt Devils scored 8 runs and
allowed 4 runs by the Alpharetta Blazers. Janelle Green pitched a strong
beginning, was relieved by Marquita Johnson in the mid innings, and Jessica
Washington closed out the game. Peyton Pugh, Marquita Johnson and Jessica
Washington hit the ball well in this game. In the championship game, Dirt Devils
scored to two runs and did not allow the Bama Peaches any runs. Marquita Johnson
pitched a complete game shutout striking out 8. Baylee Stephens and Jessica
Washington had two hits each and Janelle Green added a single.
10 and UNDER GIRLS CLAIM CHAMPIONSHIP in April 15-17 at Sports Complex in
Columbus, Ga. Dirt Devil team members competed with nine other 10-U Alabama and
Georgia teams in this ASA sponsored tournament. After a 4-6 loss to Cherokee
Pride and a 5-5 tie with Georgia Pride in pool play, the Dirt Devils
methodically defeated four teams to claim the championship in the single
elimination portion of the tournament: Lethal Fastpitch, 3-2; Cherokee Pride,
1-0; Georgia Impact, 8-5; and Georgia Dawgs, 4-3 for the Championship. Brown,
Holmes, and Williams provided outstanding pitching throughout the tournament.
Neely, Poole, Parmer, and Hinkle were offensive stars at the plate and Adrian,
Adams, and Norred contributed key defensive stops.
In the Championship Game, Brown pitched 4 innings and recorded 4 strikeouts and 1 walk for 18 batters faced. Williams threw the last two innings, allowing only 1 hit and recording 2 strikeouts. Poole had 2 singles and 2 RBI's for the game while Neely, Holmes, and Williams added a single each.

The Dirt Devils Fastpitch Travel team in Auburn, AL is hosting tryouts for the 10U and 12U age groups for the 2005 Spring and Summer season. Tryouts for both age groups will take place on Saturday, November 6 at 9:30 - 11:30 at the Auburn Softball Complex. Any girl wanting to continue playing fastpitch travel softball at a competitive level during the summer is encouraged to sign up and tryout.
