2005 Dirt Devils Team
10 and UNDER GIRLS CLAIM CHAMPIONSHIP in April 15-17 at Sports Complex in
Columbus, Ga. Dirt Devil team members competed with nine other 10-U Alabama and
Georgia teams in this ASA sponsored tournament. After a 4-6 loss to Cherokee
Pride and a 5-5 tie with Georgia Pride in pool play, the Dirt Devils
methodically defeated four teams to claim the championship in the single
elimination portion of the tournament: Lethal Fastpitch, 3-2; Cherokee Pride,
1-0; Georgia Impact, 8-5; and Georgia Dawgs, 4-3 for the Championship. Brown,
Holmes, and Williams provided outstanding pitching throughout the tournament.
Neely, Poole, Parmer, and Hinkle were offensive stars at the plate and Adrian,
Adams, and Norred contributed key defensive stops.
In the Championship Game, Brown pitched 4 innings and recorded 4 strikeouts and
1 walk for 18 batters faced. Williams threw the last two innings, allowing only
1 hit and recording 2 strikeouts. Poole had 2 singles and 2 RBI's for the game
while Neely, Holmes, and Williams added a single each.
